- European PS2 sales update
By the end of July 2003, 15.6 million Playstation 2's have been sold in Europe with Sony estimating a further 6 million sold in Europe by March 2004!
- Bonus disc with Double Dash?
Rumours flying around the European Computer Trade Show (ECTS), being held this week at Earls Court, London (UK), suggests that a reworked version of Mario Kart 64 (N64) will be included on a bonus disc with Mario Kart: Double Dash. Perhaps they will include preview footage from upcoming games on the bonus disc too, as they did with the bonus disc included with Zelda: Wind Waker.
- ELSPA's Hall Of Fame
The European Leisure Software Publishers Association (ELSPA) now has its very own Hall of Fame with Toby Gard, the guy who created Lara Croft and left Core Design before she was famous, being the first person to be inducted into it.
- Tomb Raider film misses top spot
The second Tomb Raider film, TR: Cradle Of Life, only took £1.5 million in the first 3 days putting it behind American Pie: The Wedding and Pirates Of The Caribbean at the UK box office.
- PSP games announced..
The Getaway and Sahara are 2 games that have been confirmed to be heading for Sony's unseen handheld, the PSP (Playstation Portable).
- Bonus games for Billy Hatcher
Sega have revealed that Sonic Teams forthcoming game Billy Hatcher And The Giant Egg will include several classic games for the Game Boy Advance as downloadable extras. Some of the games include Chu Chu Rocket, Nights Into Dreams and more.
- DC US PSO Servers to close
Sega have announced that the US PSO and PSO V2 servers for the Dreamcast will close on Oct. 1st 2003. Nothing is known about the European and Japanese servers at present.

- Lucazade without Lara
Lara Croft has been dropped as the face of Lucazade. Could the recent game and the apparently poor movie (that I haven't seen yet) have anything to do with this decision?
- Bid For A Game
A new website devoted entirely for the auction and trading of videogames has opened up. The site is designed to help you easily find the title you are after.
- VF4 Tournament
Sega is inviting people at this years Playstaion Experience to take part in a special Virtua Fighter tournament to mark the games 10th anniversary. The tournament will run from August 28th - 30th with a grand prize of a VF4: Evolution arcade machine, worth around £6,000.
- Kingdom Hearts 2
Andy Mooney, Chairman of Disney consumer products, confirmed at a press conference held at the Games Convention 2003 (in Leipzig, Germany) that Kingdom Hearts 2 is in development by Square Enix.
- Game Central is moving
Game Central , on Teletext (UK, Channel 4) is moving from Teletext page 175 to page 375 within the next few weeks.
- Donkey Kong for GC
Namco and Nintendo are working on a Donkey Kong game for the GameCube.
- Sega Europe down again?
Sega Europes site was down on August 14th, but all is well again.
- Capcom scrap beat'em up!
Capcom's Fighting All Stars, an arcade that was due out later this year, has been scraped (no pun intended!). It was to feature many legendary Capcom characters including Chun-Li (from Street Fighter), Hiryu (from Strider) and Mike Heggan (from Final Fight). The game was scrapped due to "quality concerns" (?!).
- More DC games...if you want them

- Nintendo teaser
Nintendo Japan President Satoru Iwata has made an announcement that they will reveal something big early next year.
Who knows what it will be, most people think its either a new Game Boy, a successor to the GameCube or perhaps Mario 128. Who knows.... only time will tell.
- Nintendo outside ECTS
Nintendo has confirmed what games will be at their roadshow parked at Earls Court on Aug. 27th to 29th, outside ECTS.
GameCube games include Pikmin 2, Pokemon Box (?!), Soul Calibur 2 and Mario Kart: Double Dash. Super Mario 3 for the Gam Boy Advance will be among the GBA titles there.
- Nintendo make a profit
Nintendo have reported a profit of $95 million (£59 million) for sales between April 1st and June 31st (the first quarter for the financial year).
3.24 million Game Boy Advances were sold worldwide in that period but only 80,000 GameCubes sold! :(
- Promo vid for Phantom
2Advanced Studio's are preparing a video to promote Infinium Labs forthcoming Phantom console.

- Vodafone Live! Arcade tour
Vodafone are trying to find the best mobile phone gamers in the UK, on its Live! Arcade tour. The first heat was held in Glasgow, with further heats to be held in London, Leeds and various other cities.
Aleks Krotoski, co-presenter of Channel 4's Bits videogames TV show, will be the host for the events which will see regional winners getting £700 of prizes and the overall winner getting a holiday in Ibiza. For more info visit:
- Major League Gaming
Videogamers now have their own gaming league in the form of the Major League Gaming organistation, which now allows console gamers to sign up aswell as PC gamers. For more info visit:
- Netrankings for Colin McRae 4
XBox users will be able to post their best times on a XBox Live! Netranking table in the forthcoming Colin McRae 4.
- EyeToy a hit
Sony's EyeToy , a webcam / digital camera for the Playstation 2, has now sold over 250,000 units across Europe.
Sony will be releasing more EyeToy games soon, entitled EyeToy Sports which includes sporty games and EyeToy Groove which will see you playing various mini-games in time to the music.
- Lara leaves Core behind!
Eidos, the publisher of Tomb Raider and partly founded by Core Design amongst other small companies, has decided that new Tomb Raider games will be made by Crystal Dynamics, who are reponsible for Legacy Of Kain and Gex amongst others.
- Soul Calibur 2 gets nominated
Namco's Soul Calibur 2 has recieved a nomination for the Best Of Show Award at the SIGGRAPH computer graphics festival in San Diego for its intro sequence.
The last time a game won this award was back in 2000 when Capcom's Onimusha won it.
- Tenchu comes to XBox
Tenchu: Return From Darkness is the first Tenchu game to appear on the XBox and will no doubt be compatible with XBox Live. Previous games appeared on the Playstation 1 & 2.
- Mod chips illegal
The Australian Federal Court has reversed the decision they made last year about Playstation 2 mod chips after an appeal from Sony. Mod chips are now illegal in Australia and manufacturers and distributors will have to pay damages to Sony.
- Tony Hawks update
It has been announced that using Sony's EyeToy you can put yourself into the game, clothes and all! Other attributes such as height and weight can be adjusted via a menu.
- Dreamennia suffers from Lycos
Anyone attempting to visit the European Dreamcast board will have problems with 'Lycos Sponsers' columns :( Hopefully Lycos' servers will be working properly again, as i for one love the boards.
- Tomb Raider film woes
Critics have slated the new Tomb Raider film TR: Cradle Of Life saying that it's "utterly ridiculous" and "uninspired".
Even worse is that the film only took $21.7 million on its opening weekend which is less than the original.
- GBA's success
Nintendo of America claim that 45% of games machines sold last month in the US were Game Boy Advances!
As if that wasn't proof enough of the GBA's popularity, both new Pokemon games for the machine have gone into the 1st and 2nd slots in the UK all-format chart.
